Pride Week 2015
Hi everyone!! Exciting news: Pride Week 2015 starts TOMORROW, APRIL 6th (through April 10th)! This year's theme is Intersectionality Across the Rainbow, which we're super stoked about considering that people commonly identify with multiple identities (opposed to only one)! Several organizations will be helping us celebrate this week by hosting meetings and/or events with this theme. How cool, right?!

Just a friendly reminder...
Pride Parade is this Saturday!
Want to go, but don't have anyone to go with? Already going with a group of people?
Hey, the more, the merrier, right?
Meet us in front of the Littlefield Fountain at 6pm and join us as we march in the Pride Parade!
Don't feel like marching it? No problem -- that's okay, too! We'll be splitting up into two groups: one for those who want to march at the parade, and another for those who don't.
Also, we'll be having our second body meeting this coming Wednesday, September 24th.
We want to hear what YOU want to see being done at UT, within the organization, the type of legislature you want us to write, etc! So, come to our town hall edition meeting with all of your fantastic ideas because we can't wait to hear it all!
(As per usual, there will be food!)
Hope to see you there! :D

Wednesday, April 23
VAV Denim Day
11:00 - 2:00, West Mall
Join Voices Against Violence (VAV) and Safe Place for Denim Day on April 23, 2014. We will be passing out FREE stickers and t-shirts on the West Mall from 11am-2pm!
Why Denim?
Denim Day calls out victim-blaming and builds a visible community dedicated to building a campus free from sexual violence. In 1998, a teenage girl in Italy was raped by her driving instructor. The man was convicted, but his case went to the Supreme Court of Appeals in Rome. The court overturned the conviction, arguing that because the girl wore very tight jeans she must have had to help remove them, thereby giving consent to have sex.
The case made international headlines, and the young woman’s jeans became a symbol of awareness that what someone wears is NEVER an excuse or invitation for rape

Tuesday, April 22
StandOut Meeting

TSH Secularism and Queerness

The SOCial
8:00 - 10:00, SAC Ballroom
GBSA Panel on Online Privacy

The reality of maintaining privacy online differs from expectations and can be in tension with the publicity goals that people seek to accomplish using online platforms. Privacy & Publicity panelists will discuss how young professionals and future business leaders can navigate the privacy and publicity implications of social and digital technologies. Anecdotal and empirical experience will be presented that illustrates how new technologies impact LGBTQA, religious, and other communities—and the businesses that advertise to them—in significant and unexpected ways. By understanding these effects, we can leverage them in order to create a business advantage and accomplish a social good.
DLP & Texas Together
6:00 -7:00, UTC 3.110
Texas Together is co-hosting a speaker panel on how queerness, sexuality, and gender are viewed on campus with UT’s own Delta Lambda Phi – Beta Rho Chapter fraternity. The panel will feature both UT faculty, including the GSC’s own Shane Whalley, and students.
